3. Product Structure
Split set friction rock bolts consists of a slotted steel tube and a bearing plate. When installed the borehole is drilled to a diameter slightly smaller than the bolt itself. Once hammered into the borehole the split tube expands and presses against the sides of the borehole creating friction all along the length of the bolt.
Split set friction rock bolts are ideal for many tunneling and mining applications that need immediate reinforcement upon installation. Installation is faster than traditional resin bolts because there is no mixing or curing time.

5.1 What is the difference between split set and other rock bolts?
Split set friction rock bolts use continuous friction along the shaft of the bolt to support the ground. Other rock bolts use cement or resin grout to attach the bolt to the ground.
5.2 How long do friction rock bolts last?
Both the steel options used in split set friction rock bolts are very durable for underground use. However long-term performance is based on rock quality, hardness and application.
5.3 Can I use split set bolts for anchorages?
Split set rock bolts are best used when immediate support of the ground is required. If your project requires anchorage support choose from our point anchor or full column grouted rock bolts.
