When we install reinforcement elements for mining, tunneling and geotechnical projects, anchoring material is the medium that works between reinforcement and rock mass.
A rock bolt is never acting alone.
Rock Bolt System = Rock Bolt + Anchoring Material + Bearing Plate + Nut + Surrounding Rock Mass
Two of the most popular anchoring types are:
Resin anchoring
Cement grouting
Both can be very effective forms of reinforcement if designed and installed properly.
They DO have different characteristics with regard to:
installation speed;
load transfer capabilities;
equipment;
material cost;
geology;
long term reinforcement performance.
One is not always better than the other. It all comes down to the project conditions.
At Wanfeng, we offer combined grouting solutions and anchoring materials along with ground support components for use in mining, tunneling and geotechnical projects.

Rock bolts are one of the most commonly used reinforcement elements used in underground mines, tunnels, slope stabilization and other forms of ground support.
There are different categories of rock bolt. Rock bolt does not refer to just one product.
The various bolt types use different methods of anchoring to the ground, are made of different materials and may be installed differently. Just because a certain bolt works well in a specific situation, does not mean it will be the best choice for all underground excavations. A bolt that works well in a fairly competent mine roof may not be the best choice for fractured ground, highly deformable rock or in an excavation where full column grouting is required.
Different rock bolt types discussed here include resin bolts, mechanical bolts, friction bolts, fully grouted bolts, threaded steel bolts, hollow grouting anchors, and FRP rock bolts.
Selecting which type of bolt to use depends on the geology of the project, the required support load capacity, condition of the borehole, equipment available to install the bolts, corrosion conditions and the desired service life of the installed bolt.
